MODERN LIVING GUIDE
MLG Participants
INTERESTING PEOPLE. INTERESTING WORK.
ONE QUESTION WORTH EXPLORING.
Modern Living Guide meets people doing work that makes us curious, asks one question worth exploring, and follows where the answer leads.
WE FOLLOW CURIOSITY
We Begin With Something That Makes Us Curious.
Modern Living Guide is interested in the people behind the ideas, skills, processes, places, and objects that shape contemporary life.
Through MLG Participants, we meet creators, makers, craftspeople, designers, artists, specialists, entrepreneurs, and others whose work gives us a reason to look closer.
We don't begin with a questionnaire. We begin with something that makes us curious.
A material · A technique · A decision · A process · A place · A tradition · An unexpected detail
And then we ask a question.

THE QUESTION
One Question Can
Open a Much Bigger Story.
Why does a particular process work this way?
Where does a color come from?
Why was this material chosen?
What happens before the finished object exists?
Why preserve a technique when a faster method is available?
Sometimes the most interesting stories begin with very small questions.
MLG Participants follows those questions wherever they lead.
The objective isn’t to tell someone’s entire story. It is to discover one fascinating part of what they do and understand it better.
HOW IT WORKS
From Curiosity to Story
01 — DISCOVER
Something Makes Us Curious
We discover a person, process, material, idea, place, or piece of work that gives us a reason to look closer.
02 — ASK
We Find the Question
Rather than trying to tell someone’s entire story, we identify one specific question worth exploring.
03 — EXPLORE
We Follow the Answer
Participation might involve a conversation, a few questions, existing materials, or a simple demonstration.
04 — CREATE
MLG Tells the Story
Modern Living Guide handles the editorial and production work, shaping what we discover into a finished story.
The participant is the subject. MLG is the storyteller.
PARTICIPATION
Different People. Different Work. Different Stories.

There Is No Typical MLG Participant.
MLG Participants can be creators, makers, craftspeople, designers, artists, specialists, entrepreneurs, researchers, or simply people whose work and knowledge give us a reason to look closer.
They might work with materials, food, color, craft, design, nature, culture, places, processes, or ideas we haven’t encountered before.
They don’t need a large following. They don’t need to be influencers. And they don’t need to create content for Modern Living Guide.
What matters is that there is something worth discovering.

Participation is meant to be simple.
Depending on the story, we may ask for a conversation, a few questions, access to existing photographs or materials you are comfortable sharing, or the opportunity to observe or document part of your process.
You are not expected to create content for Modern Living Guide.
MLG handles the editorial and production work. Before anything moves forward, we’ll explain what we’re interested in exploring, what participation would involve, and how the resulting story may be used.
WHY PARTICIPATE
MLG begins with genuine curiosity about your work. Rather than trying to summarize everything you do, we focus on one question, process, material, idea, or detail that deserves a closer look.
The goal is not a quick mention or promotional profile. We take the time to understand what makes the subject interesting and shape the story around what we discover.
You don’t need to write an article, produce a video, or become a content creator for Modern Living Guide. Depending on the story, your role may be as simple as sharing your knowledge, answering questions, or allowing us to observe part of your process.
When the story is published, we’ll send you the link. You’re welcome to share it with your own audience, portfolio, website, or community if you choose.

INTERESTED IN PARTICIPATING?
Have Something Worth Exploring?
If Modern Living Guide invited you to participate, the question in your invitation is simply where the conversation begins.
Reply to the person who contacted you, and we’ll talk through the idea, what participation might involve, and whether it feels like the right fit.
There is no obligation to participate.
If you discovered MLG Participants on your own and believe your work, process, knowledge, or perspective might give us something interesting to explore, you’re welcome to introduce yourself.
Tell us who you are, what you do, and what you think might be worth looking at more closely.
